Meeting Minutes
October 7th, 2009

Officers present: Dale Cuddeback, Commodore; Steve Doherty, Vice-Commodore; Frank Fitzhenry, Treasurer; Barry Fox, Secretary

Meeting called to order by Commodore Dale Cuddeback @ 6:30 pm at the Safety Harbor Library .

Commodore's Report: Labor Day Party - Thanks to everyone who helped put together a great party, especially Von & Dick for providing the food and Ann who organized the side dishes.

November Meeting Program: Ellen has arranged for a speaker from SSMR Rigging, Inc based at Salt Creek Marina in St Petersburg. If anyone has specific boat rigging questions, please pass them to the Secretary along with the year and make of your boat. These will be provided to our guest speaker and will be answered at the November meeting.

Vice Commodore's Report: October Activities: Sat 10/10, Race at 10am; Wed 10/14, 10/21, & 10/28 Wed night race at 6 pm; Sat 10/17, Raft-up at Oldsmar Beach, 6:30 pm; Sat 10/24, Race at 10 am, Overnight trip to St Pete, return on Sunday 10/25; Sat 10/31, Cortez Nautical Flea Market, meet at marina @ 8:30 am and carpool down to Cortez.

Future Activity Ideas: A discussion of possible future activities included: An SHBC nautical flea market, Dinner Theater @ the Spa, Sail to Egmont Cay, Ferry to Egmont Cay, Camping @ Fort Desoto Park, Day trip to Hula Bay for lunch, Bahama Breeze trip, Anchor off Cypress Park-Tampa.

Secretary's Report: The Sept minutes were approved after the Secretary pointed out one mistake.

Treasurer's Report: The treasury balance is $1904.15. Expenses for the Labor Day picnic were $70.00 for food. Income from the picnic was $15.00 for guests and $17.00 from the 50/50 drawing.

New Business: 2010 Bikini Cup - Ellen reported that the 2010 Bikini Cup would be held on Saturday, April 17th. Volunteers are needed to help produce the event. Door prizes and donations are also needed. If you know of a business that would like to donate or sponsor the event, get two (2) business cards from them and contact Ellen.

2010 Officer Elections: By the Nov 4th meeting, a slate of officer candidates should be ready. Currently the following members have volunteered to run: Commodore - Dale Cuddeback, Vice-Commodore - Barry Fox, Treasurer - Frank Fitzhenry. We still need a candidate for Secretary. Discussion followed that a Public Relations Director was needed, someone to get the word out about SHBC goings on, races, etc.

Christmas Party Reminder: Saturday, Dec 12th, 5pm until...Sam Seltzers (Clearwater). $20.00 per member paid in advance, $25 per member at the door, $32.00 for guests. Bring your $$ to the November meeting for party reservations along with Toys For Tots donations (new unwrapped toys or checks).

Guests: Welcome to Jane and Victor Corbett (McGregor 26 owners) and Dario Negrini (Hobie 16 owner).

Door Prize: A sail trimming instructional DVD was won by Don Gaye.

Next Meeting: Wednesday, November 4th, at the Safety Harbor Library, 6:30 pm. With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:50 pm.
